New In: Otenge Studs and The Candle House Soap

About two weeks ago I got an email from Pauline, a lovely reader and jewellery designer who'd landed on my blog upon seeing it on Nkirote's blog - Revealed - (thanks Nkirote!), and noted that I was wearing one of her earrings here. I had bought these studs earlier this year from Daisy who'd actually sourced them from Pauline..
Now Pauline was wondering if I'd be interested in checking out some new studs that she'd been making which came in different sizes and I jumped at the chance! I don't know who wouldn't.. I mean, we're talking accessories here.

We met up soon after and she was such a sweetheart! She told me how as a jewellery designer she's had to overcome certain challenges and talked me through some of her hopes for the future. Wish you all the best Pauline, I think your future is only going to get brighter :)

She was  lovely enough to give me 9 pairs of her beautiful Otenge studs which I was so excited about!! I love, love, love them and I think they're a cute way of adding some colour to your outfit. She had a huge bag full earrings and let me choose the ones I liked and I picked these :)
My favourite are the red and orange ones, I always feel like they brighten up my face whenever I have them on.

They cost KES600 for a pack of two small studs and KES400 for the large studs.
You can check out more of her stuff on her facebook page! If you're interested in getting some just leave me a comment below or send Pauline an email at otenge.ke@gmail.com

Thanks Pauline! xx

The same evening I was meeting Pauline I decided to make a quick stop at what I thought was a pastry vendor at Junction Mall. Turns out what I thought was cake was actually soap.
I was sold.

The Candle House station is right next to the Art Cafe pastry vendor - know the one I'm talking about? It's near Nakumatt...
They sell candles and soaps at what I think are rather reasonable prices. I got this bar of soap for KES98 (about $1.20) which I thought was quite the bargain!

The soap is made of beeswax, essential oils, vegetable oil and castor oil. It's also got bits of cedar wood which makes it perfect for exfoliating! It smells ok.. Nothing to write home about.
I've come to realise though that when it comes to your face you can do without perfumed products.

So just to give you an idea of its size, I placed it on my palm. Great deal for about KES100, right?!
I'm yet to try it on my face though as I wanted to finish what I was using at the moment and didn't want to mix products. Sorry I can't tell you much about how it works on my face.

So have you tried either Otenge studs or The Candle House soap?
If not, are you keen to?

Hope you've had a great week so far!
I spent yesterday  in bed nursing cramps and what I thought was a flu - not my best of days but I'm feeling waaay better today.

Sweet day!
