About two weeks ago I got an email from Pauline, a lovely reader and jewellery designer who'd landed on my blog upon seeing it on Nkirote's blog - Revealed - (thanks Nkirote!), and noted that I was wearing one of her earrings here. I had bought these studs earlier this year from Daisy who'd actually sourced them from Pauline..

Solange, this one's for you.
If you haven't yet heard Losing You by Solange, you're a little lame. Just a little.
But fear not, all can be rectified if you just click on this link and lose yourself in her melody and cool dance moves.
You can thank me later.

Fashion starts here.. with this scarf
A few weeks ago I headed out to the Arts and Crafts Market at Sarakasi Dome where I’d heard that every first Saturday of the month, vendors come and sell their cute little nick knacks at affordable prices. I headed out early Saturday morning and got there by around 11am all excited to see beautiful items and to bargain my way through amazing discounts with the vendors. Man, what a disappointment. I don’t know whether it’s because I was there early or this was just not a good Saturday in general but there were literally 4 vendors there with really basic stuff and their items sprawled on the tiniest of tables. I was in shock! Have you ever been to this event and if so, could you please tell me whether this is the case every time?
Anyway, after walking around for all of 45 seconds (going round 4 vendors with basic items sprawled on small tables doesn’t take much time, I guarantee it) I landed on this one lady who had thee scarf. You see, I’m a scarf lover and I rarely leave the house without one.. especially with the weather we've been having lately. Not only does it act as a perfect accessory but it also keeps your chest warm which is something my mother used to stress when we were kids! I was starting to feel like the scarves I had were pretty basic so you can imagine my excitement when I landed on this baby. Isn't she beautiful? I love how the beads dance on her edges adding an unexpected playfulness to the scarf. I've received so many compliments on this here scarf already - you should head out to Sarakasi Dome and grab yourself one!
Scarf - vendor at Arts & Crafts Market at Sarakasi Dome; Blazer - Cotton On; Top - American Dream; High Waist Jeans - Toi Market; Kate Spade Pumps - street vendor at Karen Crossroads; Handbag - shop in SA; Ring - Edgars; Cuff - Maasai Market.
My dad needs a medal.
I don't think he listens to me half the time, and can't exactly blame him as my version of an interesting convo is discussing what Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were seen wearing, but I'm sure glad he was listening this time. I was telling him how I need to get more fashion magazines and what do you know - the man went out and bought a handful! But let's have a serious moment here and talk a little about how ridiculously expensive they can be. I mean KES1,720 (about 13pounds) for a magazine that sells for less than 5 pounds in the UK??? That's cray. The government needs to intervene. Let's sign a petition or something. You in? My dad was lucky enough to get these magazines at a MAJAH discount and we all love a good discount, don't we?
I'm sure we're all excited about the heat that is soon to be upon us. I'm over this drab, dull, gloomy weather and can't wait to wear some fun, colourful nail polishes to kick off the warmer days! I'm also trying to put together a proper summer wardrobe - first time in my life that I've ever planned my wardrobe for a season. I'm excited about this. Would you like me to share what I'm putting together?
Guys I have sad news. My laptop is slowly dying. On Wednesday I almost had a panic attack at the office when I couldn't get it to charge. I tried moving the charger around, removing the battery - everything really - but my lappy wouldn't charge which means it wouldn't go on. I was heartbroken considering all the pictures I've got on here and I don't have them saved anywhere else. Lucky for me it finally started charging later that evening but it's still being stubborn. Can't blame my lappy though cos it's been going strong for about 5 years now.. You have done me well lappy but even I can see that you're crawling your way through this and that you need to be put to rest.
Hopefully I'll get it fixed soon but in the event that we go MIA for the next few days please bear with us. Lappy and I will be trying to work through our little problem here.
Wow. This has been quite the lengthy post huh?
A beautiful weekend to you all and thank you for stopping by!!

A whole lot different from what I remember
If you went to primary and, possibly, high school in Kenya, then Bata is no new term to you. It was like clockwork – just before schools would open, parents would flock to the most convenient Bata store to get a new pair of school shoes for their kids. Needless to say, for the longest time I knew that all that Bata had to offer were school shoes, sports shoes, and those flip flops that they only had in blue or red. But boy have things changed and I, for one, sure am loving it. I mean, aren’t these babies just the bombdiggity? To be honest though my mum asked whether the brown flats were meant for old ladies. If that's the case then I just declared myself the mayor of old-ladiesville because these babies are the most comfortable things my 10 little toes have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! Plus they also came with a 10% discount so really, old ladies' shoes for the win.
KES 400 (approx. $5)
KES1,500 (approx. $18)
Friday is just round the corner ladies and gents, stay strong.

New in: Summer Hype
Shoulder Bags –
Kariorkor Market – Shs 140 each (approx. $2)
My love for Kariorkor
Market is growing by the day. I mean, the number of little treasures hidden in there is
just beyond me. Like these cute Kiondo shoulder bags that came in the most
ridiculously cute colours for the grand total of Shs140 each! Boom Pow.
Hot pink skirt – Kidosho – Shs 1,300 (approx. $16)
If you’re in Nairobi
then you’re no stranger to the drab, dull weather that we’ve had for the past
few months. I’m not a big fan of summer per se but even I have started longing
for the hot days that we know Nairobi can deliver oh so well. On my wish-list
for summer outfits were cute little skirts which I hadn’t had any luck finding
until the Arts and Beer Fest. *Haaalelujah* Thank you Liz of Kidosho Apparel
for being generally awesome at designing and then proceeding to put together a
hot pink skirt. Your skirt had me at hello.
Grey Tank – American Dream
– Shs1,000 (approx. $12)
And on that summer note,
here’s a plain, yet not so plain, tank by American Dream. More please!
Ruby Woo
Girl About Town
MAC Ruby Woo &
Girl About Town – Shs1,300 each (approx. $16)
A few months ago I resolved to embrace lipsticks and started trolling the internet for some nice
lippies. Thank God for beauty bloggers because they made my life easier with
all their reviews. I resolved to get MAC Ruby Woo and Girl About Town! Love
them both but I should also invest in some lip liners. Ruby Woo is the shiznit
by the way. Get it already.
Hope you're having a swell week :)

New In: Shoes
Shoes - Ngara; Jeans - Toi Market; Blouse - Thrift store in Melbourne; Necklace & Cuff Bracelet - Maasai Market; Earrings - Mother's; Clutch - Toi Market; Blazer - Meltz; Scarf - Cotton On.
It’s always so exciting stepping out in a new
item, wouldn’t you agree? I always walk with an extra bounce to my step. Like
if ever I was to compete in Olympics Long Jump, then would be the time. Just
throw some new jeans/shoes on me and I’m good to go. Kenya for gold, baby.
These shoes were my ‘new item’ which I wore to go watch Dark Night Rises with my cousins. Have you watched it? Pretty good movie, huh?
Have a productive week friends and thanks for
stopping by!

Accessories Galore
I think I'm in love.
Have accessories always been this much fun to play with? I seem to have discovered a whole new world people, and I'm about to share it with you.
Not sure when exactly it happened but this whole accessories obsession sort of snuck up on me and now I can't seem to get enough! Before we even continue, if there's some cool place you get your accessories from at an affordable price, don't be shy, drop a comment below letting me know where and make my day :) Or just drop a comment saying hi. Either one.
These are most of the accessories I've purchased in the past month so some of the pieces may seem familiar as they have already been featured in ze bloggity blog.

Shopping Ban
The time has come for those two words that I don't like very much to come into effect.
Shopping Ban.
GAHHH.
It's very necessary though because I still have to purchase my dream camera pretty soon so I'd better be smart about how I'm spending money. The next three weeks will be pretty dry so I'm excited to see all the stuff that the bloggers I follow will be purchasing. You know, living vicariously and all.
Bought most of this stuff while at the EcoFair which was held at Waldorf this past weekend. There are such amazing craftsmen and women out there. Very impressed.
Look into my eyes. You are getting sleeeepy..
All three bracelets were bought in town for Shs100 each. Sent my colleague to get some for me and I'm so excited about all the colours!
All three beaded bracelets came to a total of Shs200. I'm giving one to Amani, another to my little cousin and I'm keeping the third. Because friendship bracelets are so in right now. Totally.
This picture makes this bib necklace look more like a bracelet, doesn't it? Only cost Shs250 and what drew me in are the turquoise stones. Love 'em!
Hello
Got three of these button studs for a total of Shs400. I absolutely adore the prints especially because they sorta look tribal.
This little purse cost Shs200 and I'm using it to store my pads/tampons. Ladies how many times have you reached into your handbag to get your wallet and whipped out the wrong thing? Or that moment when all the contents of your bag spill out? Yeah, no more. Gone are the days of embarrassing moments.
