Mother turned __ on Sunday. I would tell you how old but she'd kill me for putting it on here so we'll go with 'she turned blank'. We started the morning by giving her her presents and taking lots of pictures. Is anyone out there as horrible as I am at keeping presents till the right moment? I always want to hand them out immediately cos I get too excited! Speaking of presents, and yes, I see how much I digress, do you happen to watch Giuliana and Bill? Have you watched the episode where Giuliana takes Bill to Vegas for his birthday and hands him a tie clip as his present? And Bill sort of breaks it down to her that he never wears ties but thanks anyway? ha! that was a good episode. Love that couple.

 Oooh.. Can I cheat and say an open air clothes/antiques/jewellery/furniture market?

3. Who is the most influential person in your life, and why?

 At this point, I am. I'm the most influential person in my own life - that's what I'm slowly learning. I determine my happiness. I determine when I feel joy or sadness. I determine a whole lot.

4. What is your favorite article of clothing you own?

 This long white dress that I'm yet to wear out! I got it in South Africa and absolutely loooove it but haven't found the right occasion to pull it out. I'm also loving my new denim top which I wore out for the first time here.

5. Favorite color?

 Why pick one when you can have however many colours we've got out there?

6. On a typical friday night, where are your friends most likely to find you?

 At home. Watching the Bachelor or America's Next Top Model. Or one of those shows that don't necessarily add direct value to your life but sorta do you know?

7. Why did you start your blog?

 I needed to start afresh and I thought this blog would be a great distraction - it actually sort of worked! I also like being able to talk about random things that make me happy just like I enjoy reading this sort of stuff from my fav bloggers. Plus I can't wait to look back at the random musings that got me all excited about life when I'm much older. I'm talking grey hair and wrinkles. I hope to do this with my daughter one day!

8. What is your dream job?

 The kind that doesn't have me tied to a 9-5 routine. I think at this point I'm pretty confused about where I see my professional life going.

 9.What is one thing you want to do before you die?

 Have babies! Lots of them too.

10. Who is your celebrity crush?

 At the moment I would have to say Robin Thicke. Oh,  and the entire cast from Takers.

Remember that movie? Not really a fitting title but why not put it in here anyway.

Just wanted to show ya the products I've been using on my face lately.. I try not to use foundation too often as I don't think using it daily is healthy for your skin. Plus when you're like me and sometimes get too lazy to wash off your make-up, you try and limit it to a minimal.

Clearly I tend to focus more on my eyes and leave the rest to God, good lighting and the right angles. 

As for the lips, I've only just started experimenting with different colours. I always used to be so conscious of my lips and would never put any colour as it would draw more attention to them. But gone are those days baby. Long gone.

Denim

Had you asked me a few months ago whether I'd ever be caught in wearing denim from top to bottom I would absolutely denied it. I think looking at all these blogs and fashion websites has given me a boost of confidence to try out several styles and try to make them my own. Clearly I'm still trying to discover my own sense of fashion but I'm loving it.

Do you sometimes make excuses to buy yourself goodies? I always do. I'll reason 'you see my back is hurting so maybe if I had a new lipstick..' or 'well I'm already at the till buying car freshener and don't want to get coins as change so I might as well pick up this nail polish to round it all off'' But my all time favourite is 'it's a sign'. Why? Because there's always a sign, you just have to look hard enough. That's the winner.

Every Sunday I tell myself that I'm going to spend my day doing nothing but resting but does that really ever happen? Not so much.

To make it worse, there's this annoying pimple smack in the middle of my forehead. Bet that's the only thing that you can now notice in that picture..

And to add a cherry to it all, I've been having a dull neck ache for the past few hours..

Those were the three worst things about my day. 

Life has been rather lovely to me lately and to focus on three small things that I didn't like would be a shallow way of looking at the bigger picture. Wouldn't you say?

Is it me or has this week been longer than usual? I can't wait for the weekend - I've got a few business ideas running through my head but all the real preparation needs to wait till the weekend.

 Is anyone out there as obsessed at doing the perfect ice grill as I am? Jay Z may one day need me in one of his videos so I can whip out this mean face so it's very necessary that I practice often you see.

Sometimes, in my head, I think I'm a fashionista and take pictures of my outfits on my phone. 

 And then, other times, I beg my dad to take me for Chinese so I can parade around in my fashionable outfit. You know, like a fashionista and all.

 So last night I tried this whole Tribal Nail Art stuff. My brother Jeff thinks those colours I used are dreadful. I reckon I should wait for him to fall asleep and do this nail art on him - maybe he'll appreciate this art more. Just maybe.

So I'm reaching into my bag this morning to get hand sanitiser and I come out with a bunch of these. Ndengu (or green grams to the non-Swahili speakers). I would explain how they got there but I've got no idea.

What's happening? How's life treating ya? 

Woke up feeling tired, moody and dreading this loooong day this morning. And then, while driving to work and bobbing my head to Jennifer Hudson's new song, I found myself smiling so hard and feeling excited about life. And just like that I remembered that smiling and feeling happy is 100% choice and 100% free. No, really, it is. Doesn't matter what's happened or how you're feeling but you decide to be happy.

So here's to a happy Tuesday, lots of love and smiles that would make Colgate proud.
