10 Ways to Wear the Little White Dress (LWD)!!

I think the LWD is one of the most versatile pieces any woman can have in her wardrobe! To show just how versatile it is, I decided to put together 10 different looks for 10 different occasions.

I am having a minor panic attack..

Guys, I really don't know what to wear. I kid you not, I've been staring at my closet for about 30 minutes now and nothing. And before that I was lying in bed trying to figure out what today's outfit is going to look like but nada.. And you know it's not like I don't have clothes, I'm just not sure how to pair them. Gaaah.
Have I lost my mojo?

I have a meeting in an hour and half.
The pressure.

In other news, I learnt how to do this cool trick with Binti yesterday thanks to my good friend Thabs.
It involves low exposure, phones and total darkness.
And a little bit of awesomeness of course.
Cool huh?

If you look closely you can actually see my silhouette behind the letter.

THE PHOTOSHOOOT!!!

WOW.
I've typed and erased, typed and erased, typed and erased my words several times now. I'm not sure I know how to express how grateful I am at this moment.

Makena, thank you so much for approaching me to do this photoshoot. I feel so humbled and honoured and excited to have been a part of such a fun project!! I think the pictures turned out great and can't wait to work with you again in the future.
Kalumu, few people would have been as patient with me as you were when it came to doing my eye make up. You should know that the set of eyelashes you used on me still sit on my dresser as a reminder of the unforgettable day.

MY VERY FIRST PHOTOSHOOT!!!!!!

 pictures taken by Jeff

I don't want to give too much away but I just needed to share a part of this with you!! As I said on my post yesterday, Makena from Red and Black Photography approached me to do a photoshoot and who was I to say no? I don't know who on earth would pass up such an offer and boy am I glad everything worked out just perfectly. Well, sorta.. When I woke up the first thing I did was reach for the curtains to take a peek at the weather and my heart fell when I saw how grey it was. That was the first time I thought "the weatherman said it would be sunny in the morning and it's not. The weather man sucks ass." About an hour later and I was screaming through the house "THE SUN IS OUTTT SUCKERS!!" Take that you dark clouds. Lucky for me, the sun stayed out for the rest of the shoot too!

The final pictures should be with me in the next week or so and trust me, as soon as I get my hands on them I'll be sure to share them with you!!

Oh and just for the record, the weatherman doesn't suck at all.

Family Reunion: Style Crush

When I first saw my aunt in this dress I died a little.
Love. Love. Love.
Like I said in my last post, dresses and skirts and all things girly have my heart at the moment. In my opinion, it's not just the appeal of the monochromatic look that makes this dress so elegant but the print is somewhat similar to the scarf print which we all know has been trending lately. She decided to keep it comfortable by pairing the dress with some sandals which I think are from Mr. Price. Not sure where her dress if from but I know she bought it off my aunt who sourced thee most ridiculously cute dresses from America. I actually made an impulse purchase and bought one of the dresses from her after vowing to be more responsible with my money.
Does anyone know a good financial advisor they can refer me to?
Must. Quit. Making. Impulse. Purchases. Dammit.

Meet my beautiful aunt, and today's style crush, Jane.

Name: Jane
Age: 44

Happy Tuesday good people!

Art & Beer Fest: Style Crush

Did you know that Kenyans were once accused of being the worst dressed people in East Africa? I kid you not, in 2009 the BBC published an article basically saying that Kenyan designers were trying to restore the Kenyan people’s name seeing as.. well.. we just couldn’t dress ourselves. And let me tell you something, the guy who wrote this article didn’t take it easy on us. His article talked of our clothes being “predictable” and “one size too big.”
Oh the nerve.

Fact is, there are some truths to this. We Kenyans can be rather dull when it comes to our outfits. But there’s an awakening. These truths have started being changed by a growing number of Kenyans who are becoming more expressive with their attire. Kenyans who have embraced a more daring sense of style or have begun to appreciate local designs - sourcing inspirations from our ethnic roots.

This was particularly evident for me at the Art and Beer Fest. There were so many well dressed ladies and gents who showed up!

Meet Vundi, Helen and Firyal. They were a few of my favourites :)

Art & Beer Festival!

For those  people who prefer pictures to words, this post is for you.

Even with over 30 pictures to show for it, I don't think I quite covered the Art and Beer Festival. Not sure whether the turn out is what the organisers hoped for but I quite liked it. It run from Saturday to Sunday with season tickets going for Shs1,500 (about $18).

I totts fell in love with this one guy btw. He sang to me you see. Well, he sang to the crowd but really I know he was singing to me. He doesn't know it yet but he and I are going to have babies together and he's going to sing for me all my life. It's gonna be beautiful. Oh yes.

Enough of my ramblings, here is mine and Binti's take on the Art and Beer Festival!

Hope you had an amazing weekend!!
