A lil' smizing is necessary. sometimes.

Sweater - 2nd Hand Market; Top - TwentyOne; Jeans - 2nd Hand Market; Wedges - Mr. Price; Jewellery - Mother's

The focus on this post isn't exactly on what I was wearing but two things: (1) Smizing and (2) Break Outs

Anyone else as obsessed with America's Next Top Model as I am? I never used to care much for the show but ever since Mnet started airing a new episode every day.. well.. the rest is history.

Here's me thinking I'm smizing. (smiling with your eyes - Tyra lingo)

Here's me sorta smizing

And then here's me laughing at my smizing attempts

Now about the break outs, not sure what exactly is causing it but my face has been having a lot more pimples than usual. I know it's nothing major but I really want to know how to stop it cos it's become rather annoying. I try and drink 1litre of water every day, have at least 6hrs of sleep each night and have recently started using a cleanser, toner and moisturiser twice a day. Hopefully this will help.

Any products you'd recommend? I've got dry skin and I'm currently using Garnier Pure Active Deep Pore Unclogging Wash and the Garnier Sport Purifying Toner. I'm also using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Face Scrub and for the moisturiser I use the Himalaya Herbals.  All you beauty gurus - Help please!! Or if you've got any home remedies that have worked for you, let me know :)

Inspired

Meet Claire.
And her turban looks.
I think she looks amazing!
Which got me thinking:
Can I pull off a turban?
Should I?
Have you ever tried it?
I have been inspired.
Enough of playing it safe people.
Enough.

Night shots

Blazer - 2nd hand market; Dress - Mr. Price, Tights - 2nd hand market; Boots - China; Handbag - 2nd hand market; Necklace - EbonyGold Jewellery; Bracelet - mother's

{This picture exaggerates how long my hair actually is. But I'll take it anyway.}

{And we're walking, and walking, and walking..}

{I see you.}

I always try to take my outfit pictures during the day and if I can't then too bad. I'll either get my brother, mother or sister to take the pictures in the morning, right before everyone sets off to start their day, but yesterday everyone had left earlier than I had anticipated. Since it was my first time wearing coloured tights, I knew I had to take pictures regardless of the time - which ended up being at around 7pm. Judgement please? What do you think of the tights? Go ahead and be as brutal as you want (my brother and mother were).

Would you and do you wear tights in other colours besides black? I'm not sure how well mine worked out here but I know I'll be trying them again with a different look. I shall not give up without a fight, people.

Frog Eye, Anyone? o_O

frog eye, anyone?
(o_O)

For those of you who aren't sure what I'm talking about, it's when one eye is bigger than the other.
Often seen on cartoons.
Usually done intentionally but I guess if you're like me, a natural frog eye is bound to sneak in every so often.

Happy Hump Day from the {occasional} Frog Eye Lady.

Photography Challenge: Macro

For the past few weeks a friend of mine has been giving me some fun photography challenges - the first challenge had to do with pictures of animals and the second with taking pictures of Nairobi in the rain. I didn't share the last couple challenges with you but figured I might as well start. This week's challenge is about getting up close and candid with your subjects. A lot of macro shots were taken over the weekend, these are just a few that I wanted to share with you.

Let me know if you'd be keen to join in the next challenges by leaving a comment below!

Also, does anyone know about watermarking your pictures? Dos and Don'ts? Any tips/sites would be appreciated!

It's Working.

Giving Miss Piggy a run for her money with my fat cheeks. What.

Faux Leather Jacket - Meltz; Denim top - 2nd hand market; Jeggings - 2nd hand market; Boots - Mr. Price; Necklace - mother's

For most of my life I’ve tried to play it safe when it comes to my sense of style but lately I’ve been pushing the boundaries a little – just enough for someone to notice. One of my colleagues politely told me “Sharon if you ever run into me on the streets and I just walk past you, please don’t take offense. This is me apologising in advance. You just look different all the time!” My heart danced with joy because it meant that I’ve somewhat succeeded in pushing the boundary! Whether it’s a good thing or bad thing, I don’t know. But at least we know it’s working people, it’s working.

Thought

 Dress - 2nd handmarket; Boots - Rage; Tights - Woolworths; Bracelet - mother's.

For some reason I had fooled myself into thinking that we are headed into warmer, sunny days. But that ain’t no truth y’all. Turns out June-July is actually the cold season – don’t ask me where I was the past 23 Junes and Julys of my life. I’d honestly hoped that the sunny days were upon us. Clearly my mind is playing tricks on me.
I think I’m getting old.

Girly

I've been feeling really girly lately.
I find myself drawn in to pink, sparkly and colourful things.
I think I'm psychologically putting up a fight with the drab weather we've been having lately and I must say - I might be winning. The sun's been peeking a lot more lately.

I'm really happy with this necklace, there's few pretty things you can spend Shs250 and come out smiling.

Lots of pink and lots of sparkly. See what I mean?

May the Nairobi heat hit us with a bang soon.
I'm over this gloomy weather.

Sunny days Spent in Stripes

Sweater - Truworths; Shorts - Edgars; Flats - Mr. Price; Satchel - New Look; Bracelet - Maasai Market; Sunglasses - Aldo

Hope you had a fab Sunday!
Spent most of mine undoing my braids while watching the Bourne Identity, Supremacy and Ultimatum.
Love. This. Trilogy
Have I ever told you how I had to wear cornrows on my head all throughout my 8 years of primary school? Yup. Well, maybe it wasn't all 8 years but it was either I wear my hair down or have cornrows and having it down was never really an option. So cornrows it was.. To make it worse, we weren't even allowed to have the fancy zigzag styles that Alicia Keys rocks so well, just some plain lines going from one end of your hair line to the other. Needless to say I  begun to build a strong aversion towards that look, especially on me. There's only so many lines a girl can have on her head for years at a go.
Hope you have a lovely week kids!

These Boots

...were meant for walking. And I'm not just saying that. They've stayed strong for about 2+ years now which is pretty good considering all the wear, the rain and the mud they've been through.
10 points for the lil' soldiers.

Boots - Rage; Jeans - 2nd hand market; Top - Meltz; Sweater 2nd hand market; Belt - Mr. Price; Sunglasses - Street vendor ; Beaded bracelet - Street vendor; Watch - used to be dad's; Rings - Edgars/WestgateMall/Gift

This right here is me giving Keanu Reeves a run for his money.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Shopping Ban

The time has come for those two words that I don't like very much to come into effect.
Shopping Ban.
GAHHH.
It's very necessary though because I still have to purchase my dream camera pretty soon so I'd better be smart about how I'm spending money. The next three weeks will be pretty dry so I'm excited to see all the stuff that the bloggers I follow will be purchasing. You know, living vicariously and all.

Bought most of this stuff while at the EcoFair which was held at Waldorf this past weekend. There are such amazing craftsmen and women out there. Very impressed.

Look into my eyes. You are getting sleeeepy..

All three bracelets were bought in town for Shs100 each. Sent my colleague to get some for me and I'm so excited about all the colours!

All three beaded bracelets came to a total of Shs200. I'm giving one to Amani, another to my little cousin and I'm keeping the third. Because friendship bracelets are so in right now. Totally.

This picture makes this bib necklace look more like a bracelet, doesn't it? Only cost Shs250 and what drew me in are the turquoise stones. Love 'em!

Hello

Got three of these button studs for a total of Shs400. I absolutely adore the prints especially because they sorta look tribal.

This little purse cost Shs200 and I'm using it to store my pads/tampons. Ladies how many times have you reached into your handbag to get your wallet and whipped out the wrong thing? Or that moment when all the contents of your bag spill out? Yeah, no more. Gone are the days of embarrassing moments.
