There's the old theory that navy blue and black are a no-no when it comes to colour combinations. For the most part I have to agree - the dark hue against a similar dark hue can be rather overwhelming, making your outfit a little lifeless. I recently watched a YouTube video where the beautiful lady on the screen explained how as a neutral colour, black can go with pretty much anything. You just need to understand how to use it so that it compliments the other pieces. 

To draw away from the lifelessness of the two dark items on top, I decided to pull out my most comfy pair of jeans in a very light grey which brighten up the outfit. I wore my brown loafers (once again for comfort) and because of the gold hardware on the tassels, I chose to go with gold accessories.
