You know how just the other day I was crying for summer? Well I'm over it...
...I'm over the heat and all the sweating that comes with Nairobi's blazing sun. I now can't wait for the cooler days!
I got this sweater from Adams for the grand total of...
KES100!!! That's about $1.20 to all my non-Kenyan readers.
Good deal or good deal?
I absolutely adore all the (love)hearts!
Apparently Kenyans are the only ones known to call them lovehearts - the rest of the world doesn't do that you guys.. They say hearts.
Weird.
This is actually my mother's necklace which she either got in Mombasa or Malindi. I remember the day she walked into the house with it and how jealous I was!! Haha. She never used to let me borrow her jewellery back then and when I saw (and consequently fell in love with) this piece I got so jealous and angry that I'd never get to wear it! Thank goodness that ain't the case no more.
These shoes are sort of special to me.
I bought them sometime last year and they were the first pair of heels that I bought on my own volition and without any occasion to wear them to. I used to be the girl who couldn't be fished what sort of shoes would go with my outfit until I had an epiphany and went out and got these babies. I remember running into Mondy's room soon after I'd purchased them and she was so excited for me! She was, and still is, one of the few girlfriends I have who are obsessed with shoes.
LOVEheart Sweater - Adams; Tank Top - America Dream; Jeans - Toi; Shoes - Rage (SA); Ring & Earrings - Maasai Market; Necklace - Mother's.
So guess who's made progress with her Swahili Fashion Week (SFW) outfit?? I think I know what I'm going to wear - spent most of last evening trying to put together this outfit.
I had such a weird dream last night. I had just arrived to the Michael Joseph Centre - where SFW is going to be held - and walked into the hall to find that everyone was in jeans. JEANS. Gaaaaaaah.. If that happened in real life I'd vomit.
Any interesting plans for the weekend?
Anyone going for Nairobi Fashion Market and if so, which day?
p.s.: I haven't been posting OOTD much because I sort of assumed you guys would be tired of that. But Namboka commented on my last post asking about it.
If there's any specific sort of post you'd like to see, you know what to do.
Stay cool.
I'd call them both 'love hearts' and 'hearts' depending on my mood I think. You're making me wonder now lol.
ReplyDeleteOh really? I had an Australian, South African and Italian friend tell me 'lovehearts' was wrong and that they'd only heard Kenyans say it!
DeleteAsh I think deep down you might be Kenyan.
Sweet deal in the sweater! Love it on you :) I'm pretty over the heat too over here in southern ca. It's been 106 which is suckie since its supposed to be fall.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bri!
DeleteThe heat is usually great for a week or two but after that it just becomes a nuisance. Hope you get your cooler weather!

ReplyDeleteAww thanks Nelly! I always love hearing how people landed on my blog.. I should thank Makena!
DeleteI just walk back and forth around Adams - I have no particular store really! I think patience is key though, you can't expect to walk in and land on gold without digging through stuff you know?
