Star Jump, Family, Jacaranda, Resigning, Blog & Bob

Friends,
I feel like talking today.

{Amani screaming her heart out. It was actually a little fun to watch}

Have you been to the Star Jump yet? I say yet because this should officially be on your bucket list which must feature at least one activity that’s guaranteed to scare the living daylights out of you. Now for those of you who are adrenaline junkies, this may not really do much for your system but for the little, little, very little scaredy cats like me out there – this is our moment.

My little sister and cousins tried to convince me to go this past Sunday and I almost buckled under the pressure. Lucky for me I was pretty certain that my top would come up to my shoulders while on that thing and I wasn’t about to traumatise all those little kids and their parents with occasional glimpses of my bra.

{my cousin Angie being strapped in}

It’s only KES400 (about $3) for a session that lasts about 7-10 minutes. I’m definitely going to give it a try soon. This little scaredy cat is about to face one of her fears.

{Amani colouring while at Java}

Hey did you know that the owner of Java is the same one who owns Planet Yogurt?? So on Sunday we were able to grab our frozen yogurt and go back to Java with them – how satisfying!

I have come to the conclusion that despite being a real smart cookie most of the time, Jeff is also a not-so-smart-but-special-smart kinda person. I mean the guy is brilliant – top of his class, has several articles published in Business Daily and knows a lot about the galaxy (which automatically makes you a genius in my books by the way), but then he’ll go and do something that will almost leave you swearing on Mother Theresa’s grave that you are not related. I wish I could give you details about the incident that led me to this conclusion but that would give away our secret key-hiding place which falls under the sensitive-information-you-don’t-want-to-blog-about category.

If we ever move houses, remind me to tell you what happened.

On Thursday morning I took my dad to Kikuyu Hospital Eye Unit to get one of his cataracts removed and I can’t remember the last time I felt so protective over him. On the ride there he started saying how he’s a little scared about the whole ordeal but it turns out he meant scared (in a good way) about the fact that his eyesight would soon be restored to perfection... but I already had it in my head that he was scared of the surgery and couldn’t help feeling like I should protect him!

I was so on edge the whole time and it didn’t help that the receptionist was very snappy to one of the old ladies who was standing behind me. I don’t like confrontation but if she’d run her mouth at me or my dad I would have snapped her in half like a twig. Or maybe just snapped her stationery – prison clothes is not a good look on anyone. Luckily she remained professional with us.

What I couldn’t help find extremely unsettling was the fact that they had disturbing pictures of eyes with disorders in one of the wings we were in. Even as I type this I’m cringing in my seat. Gaaaah. I had to ask the nurse about them and he said that they were there mostly to aid in teaching ophthalmology students. I would suggest finding a classroom for that!!

His surgery went well by the way! He was asked to take it easy and try not to move around for 48hrs and he didn’t stop complaining about that.

One of my favourite things:
{the Jacaranda tree in full bloom in Nairobi}

Just out of curiosity, is it also blooming for those of you who aren't in Nairobi?

On Tuesday I handed in my resignation letter to the company I’ve been working in for the past 10 months. It was a little surreal and for the rest of the day and week I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed. I’m not sure I want to disclose too much about my future plans just yet but at least I know I’m following my heart so for all those who were team #LiveLifetotheFullest in this post, you won me over. When the time is right I’ll let you know what’s going on over here!

The blog re-design is still underway btw. I feel like the blog is a little bit like my baby and we’re now moving from infant to toddler. A lot of good things have been happening and opportunities presenting themselves here and there which I’m excited about! Can’t wait to see where this goes.

If you ever wondered what I'd look like in a bob,

My Godmother let me play around with her wig for a little bit and here are the results.
What do you think of the look on me??
Be as honest as you please.

Hope you're having an awesome Saturday so far! I have to do A LOT of running around today but I'm excited for what the day brings.

Keep warm :)
