The Power

There's a new woman in town. A new, happier, more content woman.

I went into the bookstore yesterday with the intention of getting an uplifting book and decided on getting The Secret which cost Shs 1,450. So I reached into my wallet and that's when I realised that I only had Shs1,100.
*cue in gasps of shock and frantic search in bag for more money*

The assistant with me was really helpful as he got the manager to give me a 10% discount but even that wouldn't have brought it down to Shs1,100. So I went up to the manager, explained how desperately I needed to start reading the book that specific night and lo and behold, he let me leave with it on condition that I would bring the Shs220 balance the next day! Which I did of course. His kindness melted my heart. It's not every day that a manager gives you a discount and lets you pay off your balance the next day. Especially when it was practically your first time walking into that bookstore.

Anyway so I get home and that's when I realise that I hadn't bought The Secret like I thought I did, but The Power. I don't think it matters much though, I reckon the message is pretty much the kind that I was looking for..

Have any of you read this book? What do you think of it?

Smile already

Some of my recent purchases that are making me happy this week include a couple Kenyan made baskets and 3 small bouquets of flowers. Whoever said money can't buy you happiness clearly hadn't visited the cheap side of life.
I kid I kid, I don't believe money makes you happy. It does help make things a lot prettier/convenient though ;)

One of the baskets holds bread and the other my nail polishes.
I covered the bread basket up with a table napkin just so it looks a little better.

 Before

 After

So much more convenient in terms of space.

These flowers stay in my bedroom. The other two in the living room. All cost Shs200 in total - so cheap yet so pretty!

Can't wait for this weekend! Need to catch up on sleep..

What inexpensive things have you bought recently?

Picplz

Recently I bumped into this app called picplz while going through one of my daily blog reads.
I'm in love, the kind of love that results in babies. (babies being the pics) Now I take pictures of everything!

It's an app for iPhones and Androids, sort of like instagram I believe. So if you have an Android like I do, download it already, it's free! And you know we like free stuff. Oh yeahh.

Recent gum purchase in some of my favourite flavours.

Does anyone else's middle finger bend awkwardly?

First time putting on white nail polish. There hasn't yet been a nail polish colour that I've hated on my nails. At least not that I can remember.. Any that you particularly dislike putting on?

On Sunday my family and I went to the club for lunch. I went dressed in a pretty sundress that exposed my back and I was asked to cover up. Bloody prudes.
It was a beautiful day though and the food was awesome so I'm not going to complain much!

Hope your week is off to a good start
xo

Time for Romance

Dulce Candy, Animal print & Colour blocking

This look was inspired by Dulce from Dulce Candy in This Post

I was trying to colour block but was too scared to look looney so opted for only 2 contrasting colours. Will be venturing into the more daring side of life and make it 3 next time.

First animal print item in my wardrobe. Ever.
Welcome to the family.

My Trip to SA: Part III { GRADUATION!! }

On Saturday February 11, 2012, I graduated.
:) :) :)
I was lucky to have my family with me in SA for this special day.
Here's my photo diary of this amazing day starting from the morning of my graduation..

My hat + the wind = not the most ideal situation!

I feel so blessed to have been able to start and complete this journey. I definitely don't take it for granted and I'm so grateful to my parents for taking me through uni and of course to God for seeing me through those 3 loooong years!

I'll never forget this day.
