Silly Pictures and Bandz

I'm in denial that my weekend is over..
Spent Friday night with family who'd come over for din dins. There's nothing like the people you love sharing funny, interesting stories. Interesting stories include: first day of work, landladies who stalk you and then want to kick you out, drunk pastors calling asking for money, baby drama... Laughed myself into stitches!

Unfortunately I have no pictures of the night because I couldn't find the camera. Found it the next day under one of the seats in my car. Pity.

Amidst all the laughter that night, I felt that it was time to try out one of the nail polishes I got.

The darker green is my hand and the lighter is my mum's.

 Fish-eye angle setting
Sausage fingers anyone?
(took these pictures the next day, after I'd found the camera)

That same night I also decided that it was also necessary to paint my niece's toe nails. She's only 1 so the amount of np that landed either on my top, her foot or the chair far surpasses the amount that actually stayed on her toes. What fun times though. There's nothing like family.

Have you heard of silly bandz? My little sister is obsessed with them.

I wonder if it would be weird if I wore them..

Hope you had a good weekend!
xx

Lucky number seven

A couple days ago I decided that it was time to engage in some retail therapy cos my week was getting a little too drab/stressful/tiring and all that other stuff. That, coupled with the fact that I'm still keen to get to 100 nail polishes, meant that some nail polish would be involved. Unfortunately I only had Shs800 on me but fear not! Nairobi is the city of cheap nail polish.

Can't wait to try on these colours.. My mum reckons I should go on a nail polish ban and until 5 mins ago, I agreed with her. But with such cheap nail polish (Shs100 per bottle), well..
Happy Friday!!

Blue me away

My hair has never been softer and had this much body. Defo needs a major trim though. I've officially found my new favourite salon in Nairobi - Farouk's Beauty Salon. Must. Visit.

Hello beauty spot, say hello to the camera.
Got my nails did this weekend. There's nothing like a french mani to get you feeling all prim and proper..

Can someone explain the point behind pushing back the cuticles? I've never really got it and always ask the manicurist to skip that part.. Is it advisable?

Beaty-full day

I had such a beautiful day today! Had to leave the office for a while to go and do some work with some partners and was in awe of their office compound. If I worked here you'd never get me off that lawn. Meetings would be held in picnic settings and boomerangs would be involved. Maybe even football and some rugby. Definitely some rounders.

Forgive the rebel picture.. Not sure why but even after several attempts to rotate it, it still won't budge.

Made my heart smile when I saw this view.

Thee Dress...

I couldn't help but put on the dress once again. The more I wear it, the more I love it.

Graduation Dress Status: Found!

I think the search for thee graduation dress is over. It hasn't even been 24 hours since I announced that I was searching for a dress and already I have found it. Writing this down just made me realise how ridiculous it was for me to buy this dress on impulse with no friends around to help make the decision. This was the first day I'd decided to look for a dress and the first mall I decided to go to. It was in the third shop that I walked into and this dress was the first thing my eyes landed on. Impulse.. Impulse.. Impulse..

And just like that, I don't feel so confident about my choice anymore.. Damn.

Anyway, I've still got the receipt and that dress was the last one in the store so had to grab it!

Here is the winner!!

The sales assistant was literally a few centimeters away from the changing rooms and since I couldn't figure out how to get the camera on complete silent mode, I couldn't take so many shots. I guess it didn't help that I walked in with my camera bag slung across my shoulders.

Major apologies for the blurry pics..
The camera was so damn loud, I had to cough each time I wanted to take a picture.

Here are a couple other dresses I tried on but they didn't make the cut.

I wasn't really happy with the length of the first dress so I asked the sales assistant to get me the longer version.

Ah. Much better, don't you think?
All I need is a beach with some wind and a flower in my hair.

I'm tempted to wear Thee Dress again and take better pictures in the comfort of my home where no fake-coughs are needed to hide the loud *click* of each snap.

Celebrate with me

This morning I woke up and made the decision to celebrate life.
I'm healthy, loved, employed and gifted.
I made my brother take pictures of me cos I wanted to capture my joy.
And then he hurriedly took photos in angles that I would have rather he didn't.
Plus he made it clear that he would only take 5 pictures.
But it's okay, I was laughing all the time anyway.
My 8yr old sister had self-appointed herself as director of this photo session.

Today is a beautiful, sunny day (forget that it's Friday 13th - don't believe in that stuff)
And I'm out to celebrate it!
