20,000 reasons for me to be grateful

A couple days ago This Is Ess hit the 20,000 mark. And I was beyond ecstatic.

I started this blog earlier this year as a means to keep myself busy. I had just come from the most heart-wrenching break up ever and needed a distraction that didn’t contain any sort of reminder of my past. So I started typing, uploading pictures and revealing myself to you. About 7 months later and here we are, you and I. 20,000 hits and counting. Thank you for reading!

I’ve made some pretty cool friends here, most of whom I haven’t met but are nonetheless friends. At least in my books! Thank you!

What’s funny is how something that started out as uncertain and unclear as my blog did has now become a point of such clarity in my life. I absolutely love blogging and Bloggerville just generally kicks ass. Like if this was ass – (.) – Bloggerville would just kick it. That’s really all I’m trying to say here. Thank you for making me feel welcomed!

As you read this, I need you to know how grateful I am to you for choosing to spend your time on this space on the internet. A space that you are now indefinitely a part of. So thank you for stopping by, commenting on a post, sharing my blog to your friends, your sweet emails, working with me and for your time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Cheers to another 20,000 hits.

A Whole Lotta Movement

Skirt - Market in Mombasa; Sweater - Meltz; Scarf, Ring & Belt - Mother's; Cuff - Hilton Arcade; Charm Bracelet - Gift; Tights - Woolworths; Shoes - Edgars; Nail polish - Luron #112

Something about this skirt necessitates movement.
No really, you can't help but twirl and act like a little princess while you're in it. And on that princess-y note, my friend so genuinely pointed out how my shoes remind her of Smurfette's. You know, the only girl from The Smurfs? Interesting observation I say. You see, you may think that I get my outfit inspiration from these high fashion magazines and websites but I will have you know that I do no such thing, no siree. I go straight to animations, cartoons, Disney.. that kinda stuff. Yezzurr.

In case some of you took that seriously, that was a joke. And in case some of you were like "oh my gosh, I totally do that too!!!" well.. then.. you do you booboo.

Live

Hey friendling, how are you today? Swell, I hope.
Just wanted to share my outfit with you from Sunday. Went to church with a friend and thought I'd take girly-girl up a notch.
Church was awesome by the way, it turned out to be exactly what my soul needed.

Skirt - Mr. Price; Top - TwentyOne; Sweater - Adams; Kate Spade Pumps - Vendor at Karen Crossroads (near Nakumatt); Bag - Vendor at The Mall; Necklace - Mother's but from Maasai Market; Bracelet - Kariorkor Market.

A friend called in the middle of my little photo session and if I had to guess what I was saying here, it would probably along the lines of "No, no, no Mondy. You're not going to ditch my plans like that. Never. And yes, you're going to enjoy our little chill session this evening. Mhmm. Damn straight."
And that, dear friend, is how you stop a friend from cancelling on you.

This photo is weird for one reason and one reason only. There were only two people out here on the balcony - myself and my friend who was behind the camera. So who the heck was I looking at and talking to here???
Weird.

Now you see it all round and puffy.                     Now you see it flat as a pancake.
All this entertainment for the price of Shs50.
Priceless really!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I'm not sure where you are right now in the world but I hope you're having a lovely day :)
Love and peace.

Pucker up

My dad said that when a boy says 'pucker up', this is what he means.
But for some reason, I can never get a boy to say it again.

Thee dress - Take Two

I'm sorry friends, I know I have neglected my blog this week what with only two posts to show. Excuse me while I grab the big 'L' sign and place it on my forehead.
To be honest, I'm still having computer trouble so it's not been so easy to get my pictures off Binti and onto this here space on the internet. I'll try be better this week though!

Now, if you've been with me since the start of this blog then this dress should look familiar. Does it ring a bell? Any 'ding ding ding(s)' going off in your head?

I wore this number for my graduation earlier this year. Aaahh!! I just got a little joy-rush from going through that post. I remember how happy and grateful I was on that day.

This is the second time I've worn this dress and it was to my cousin's function. I've forgotten what it's called but it's the one where the boy-meets-girl's-parents-and-brings-his-relatives-with-him-so-that-they-can-discuss-dowry function. Know what I'm talking about? Loadsa fun!

 Fly little butterfly, fly.
Dress Annabelle-Thom (Junction Mall); Sandals - Mr. Price; Necklaces - Maasai Market and Kariokor Market; Earrings - Mother's; Ring - Maasai Market; Bag - Vendor at The Mall; Coat - Meltz.

Someone needs to hit the hairdresser's asap.

Hope you've had a marvellous Sunday ladies and gents.

A Classic

There are very few things as classic as a white tee or blouse and a pair of dark blue jeans when it comes to fashion. Whenever I'm uncertain about what to wear I tend to go back to some safe pairings - an all black ensemble or in this case, the white blouse and blue jeans.

White blouse - Adams; Blue Jeans - Adams; Kate Spade pumps - street vendor at Nakumatt Crossroads; Bag - Susen; Cuff - Hilton Arcade; Necklace - Gift; Earrings - Mother's.

I'm not sure if it's the new face scrub I got or my overload on Dorman's RVC (as my friend would like to point out) but my face has been getting an overload of pimples. Especially on my chin. I can't even begin to think of giving up RVC so I'll assume it's the new face scrub.

Have I mentioned before that I'm trying to sell the idea of becoming the Official Red Velvet Cake Ambassador to Dorman's?
They're not buying it.

The outfit was centred around these new babies - some second hand Kate Spade pumps that I got for the grand total of Shs550. I'm about to get up and start doing my happy dance right now. Shs550.
Excuse me while I slip into my happy place for a sec.

You see this pendant right here? My  7 year old, cute-as-a-button cousin gave it to me and this is something that she made a couple years ago. How adorable is it? I'm not even sure she can spell designer at this age but I see a jewellery line in her future.

I wore this outfit on Sunday to go have a coffee at Art Cafe and read my book - The Magic - which I'm almost done with. This makes me a little anxious - what on earth shall I start reading after I'm done??

Any suggestions on a great, positive, enlightening, feel-good book?

Happy Hump day folks :)
