Ditto

Ellen DeGeneres is one of my favourite people in the world.
Found these images on her show's Facebook page and had to share. Because sharing is caring.

A conversation between my 8yr old sister Amani and I.

Me: So you really like Oreos huh?
Amani: *crunch crunch* mmhmm, they're sooo good. I wish everyone in the world could taste an Oreo.
Me: Really? Maybe some people wouldn't like them as much.
Amani: Yes, but *crunch* I just wish everyone could at least taste them. Everyone - even the poor, the sick and the nervous

Adorable much?

It's been a minute

Now now, I think we both know it's time we had that talk. The one where I confessed that I sometimes slack quite a bit on blogging (as you may have noticed). So let's cut right to the chase, I believe it's time we took it to the next level and explored other avenues of communication. Take for example twitter where you'll find me as ThisisEss and instagram as This_is_Ess. Original, I know.

Let's be friends, friends.

P.S: can't wait to share the pictures I've snapped over the past week!

Come Dance With Me

This post could quite easily be two months late but it's going up anyway.

I remember this day like it was just 8 weeks ago. I had just arrived with my colleagues at a game park about 10, maybe 20mins earlier for a meeting when I spotted 5 Maasais. I quickly shouted "LOOK! Maasai men!", jabbed my hand into my bag to get my camera and dashed off to the dazzling group of bedazzled men. Got one of my colleagues to take pictures of me - she was pretty sweet about it considering my sudden, childlike outburst. You'd think I'd never seen Maasais before but something about seeing them at a game park makes them more authentic. Or so I thought.. Turns out they weren't real Maasais at all. Not that it mattered to me though. I was so happy that day. They let me wear one of their neck pieces, held my hand and jumped with me while they sang. Needless to say, the rest of my day was swell! And the meeting was successful too.

Happy Easter campers :)

Favourite Scarf and My Easter Plans

Okay guys, let's have a moment. Let's close our eyes and imagine ourselves holding hands and jumping around in a big circle screaming "EASTER BREAK! EASTER BREAK! EASTER BREAK IS HERREEEE!!!" Emphasis being on the part 'BREAK'. Getting dizzy yet? I can't even begin to explain to you how excited I am about Easter. I got a couple days off next week so my Easter break will be a little longer. Woopdidooha baby. I know I've only been working for a few months now but I'm already getting physically tired. My back hurts, is this normal? I reckon it has to do with sitting at a desk the whole day staring at my computer. Although really guys, I'm 23 and having backaches already. Not cool.

What are some of your plans for Easter? I've been trying to come up with a list but not sure how much of this I'll be able to pull off. I've got:
  • Ice skating
  • Visiting the elephant orphanage,
  • Going to the movies with Amani, my lil' sister,
  • Baking some treats for this jolly good season and trying out some new recipes
  • Getting my family to take an Easter themed photo and sending an e-card to friends and family (probably should have done this sooner though)
  • Blogging and reading all my favourite blogs
  • Watching as many movies/series as possible
  • Catching up with friends
  • Going to an Ethiopian restaurant
So, what's your list like?

1. My favourite jewellery combo at the moment. Been wearing them all the time

2. Decided to lay out my nail polishes and see how far I've come. If you'd like to refresh your memory regarding my mission to get 100 nail polishes, click here. I think I've got about 60 now though to be honest, I might end up getting 150 nail polishes by the end of the year. Seems like I've been getting an average of 10 nail polishes every month. Loving my collection so far but still keen to experiment with different colours.

3. & 4.  "The Gunners" and "Am Arsenal FC Supporter" Any Arsenal fans out there? Cos they've infiltrated the Kenyan monetary system.

5. Oh my Lord, in all honesty this story deserves an entire post by itself but here we go anyway. So I'm sitting my desk at the office when one of my colleagues asks whether I saw the dead chameleon that was next to where I parked my car. Of course I hadn't so he brought it in. Doesn't it look like a fossil from years ago? It was all dried up and very dead. That, I can promise you. Anyway, what was even creepier was when a couple of hours later out of NOWHERE, this fat, long lizard walked across my desk. Fattest bugger ever. I couldn't concentrate for the rest of day waiting for a komodo dragon to fall from the sky. After talking about my traumatic incident on twitter someone even asked whether I worked for National Geographic! Too many encounters with odd creatures in one day I tell ya.

6. I broke my nail. :(

7. My brother and I contemplated getting this fake rubber bug for my mother as her birthday present. We agreed that given the possibility that she may have a heart attack, we probably shouldn't.

8. & 9.  After seeing this tutorial at Cosmetic Cupcake I knew I had to give watermelon nails a go. They didn't come out as pretty as hers (obviously) but it was a pretty decent first attempt, wouldn't you say? Are you keen on nail art? It's been something I've gotten more and more interested in lately.
