Copper cuff

Sunday morning caught me a little off guard. Why do birthday celebrations only last one day? I could have used all that attention for at least a week I tell ya.
I figured I might as well make the most of my Sunday by heading off to the Maasai Market and getting myself a few knick knacks.

 Copper cuff - Kshs350

  4 bracelets - total of Kshs650

4 rings - total of Kshs700

I turned 23!!!

I had the most amazing day this Saturday! Did you? I sure do hope so. I was sending bucket loads of love into the universe since my day was overflowing with it from close friends and family!
My fam had organised a lunch with a bunch of some very awesome people. It was beautiful, intimate and so much fun! I'd forgotten how lovely it is to spend my bday with my family having spent my previous 3 birthdays in South Africa.

The Muthaiga Golf Club (where my bday was hosted) is super strict when it comes to phones. You're not allowed to answer or use your cellphone while on their grounds but the space we'd rented out for my lunch party was a little more relaxed when it comes to such rules. Needless to say I took advantage of that like nobody's business.. I was on a two phone tip.

My lovely friend Marion. Woman's getting married at the end of the year!! Can't wait for that wedding.

 Happy Birthday tooo meeeee!
There were about 9 kids at the party under the age of 10 who all started shouting at the same time "CAN I HAAVEE THE ROOOOSE ON THE CAAAKE??" Why do kids always drag out their words? Anyway, we had to split the petals so that everyone could have some..It was messy and fun.

 Say cheeeese

 Now onto the gifts.
I must say that I was pretty thrilled that most of the people who came gave me cash as a gift. I'm saving up for a camera and that cash brought me that much closer to holding my baby Canon! Woopdidooha.
But I also got a few gifts that I loved like this lovely faux snake skin, sparkly, grey clutch from my aunt. It comes with a strap but I'd use it mostly without it. Love it.

My other favourite (can I do that? Say what my favourite gift is? If any of my friends/relatives from the the party are reading this and don't see their present up here I still loved it!!!) was this present that I got for myself! A Nine West wallet. The colour just does it for me.. Forget putting it in my handbag, I'm going to walk around with just my wallet and phone. Goodbye lip balms, hand lotion, nail files and all that other junk I carry around in my bag.

Before people got to the party my friend Marion and I went a little crazy snapping pictures with my aunt's Canon. Can't wait to get the pictures off her and show them on here.

Guys can I just say how excited I am to get a Canon EOS T2i Rebel? My heart beats a little faster whenever I think about it. The camera will cost me about $800 and that's inclusive of a case and a memory card. I'm going to get it in May from ze United States of ze America. Cannot wait to have that little baby in my hands.

TAG: Pastel Shmastel! RESPONSE

Had I known how difficult it is to find pastel inspirations, I would never have started with the Pastel Shmastel Tag.. I barely own any clothes in fun pastels which is what I had intended my response to be on!
I did however get a great, creative response from Miss D :)

This is what Miss D from Miss Directions came up with. Talk about beautiful nails huh?!

You can see more from her post here.

Here's what I snapped during the week in the name of my Pastel Shmastel Tag

 My 8yr old sister, Amani.
Despite not knowing about the challenge, she did a pretty awesome job of pulling together pastel tones in this outfit!

A pretty flower bracelet that I got as a present a few months back. Does this colour count as a pastel???

Not sure whether the colour on my lips is a winner but it sure was pastel. And that is what counts in this post. Oh yes.

If you want to see how pastel tones are taking over the world, you can read more in this vougue article..
As for me, I'm not too keen to see/hear/talk about anything pastel. Although funny enough every other person on the street, item in the store or picture in the papers seems to have a pastel tone in it. I even saw a van in a pastel shade. Van people.

SO EXCITED IT'S FRIDAY!
If  Friday were a boy I'd plant a big wet kiss on him in absolute joy.

KONY2012 - Give A Heart

If you have a daughter or son - this is for you.
If you have a sister or a brother - this is for you.
If you have cousins, nieces, nephews - this is for you.
If you have grandchildren or great-grandchildren - this is for you.
If you have none of the above, no siblings, children, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren or great grandchildren - this is still for you.
Because at the end of the day, if you have a heart - this is for you too.

KONY2012 is a great revolution started by Invisible Children meant to bring Joseph Kony to fame. He is not a politician, an actor, philanthropist or some rich businessman. He is a despicable person who has turned thousands of children into killers. Let's stop him.

In 4 days...

I turn 23.

Thought I'd tell you a little about myself...

1. I was born March 10th, 1989 on a Friday. Can’t tell you much about that day but I know it’s been (almost) 23 years since then and I feel so blessed to have come this far. My parents worked especially hard to put me (and my siblings) through school but I also did my part and burnt the midnight oil to get to where I am today. As for my future, I live my life by setting big, hairy, audacious goals - just like how I like my hair. I kid!

2. I’m single. I recently got out of a two year relationship and even though I wouldn’t quite say I’m loving the single life, I do welcome it. I believe I’d started losing bits of myself and had begun to compromise on some of my goals (which I think comes naturally when you have someone else to think about) but now I get to re-focus my energy on these things. I think I’m going to hang to the singles' train for a little longer unless, of course, cupid thinks otherwise.

3. I absolutely love babies. I do. In fact when I was young I’d always say I’d have as many as 7. Yes, s e v e n. And then I learnt about the birth process. Eeeek. Ever watched 7th Heaven? I believe my love for kids started even before I started watching it but 7th Heaven sure did contribute to this love. Jessica Biel acted in this show back in the day when her acting career was fresh outta the oven.

4. Beyonce and I should be married. Or maybe we should be sisters.. move over Solange. Hell I’d settle for just being the person who peels the skin off her grapes and passes them on to her. I love this woman!

5. I have a tattoo. And I’m thinking of getting another one!! Been thinking about it for quite a few months now and I think I finally know what I want it to say.

6. I love God. I believe in his grace, power and love.

7. My love for nail polish goes beyond my ability to describe it to you in this here sentence.

8.  I was 17 when I first kissed a boy. I was one of those I-hate-all-boys-cos-they’re-stupid kind of girls. Until I met this guy who sat next to me and the sun set against his face and I thought ‘I hate all boys cos they’re stupid but this one has beautiful brown eyes and looks especially cute against the sunset’. Needless to say, it lasted a month.

9. One of my favourite movie characters of all time is Bumble Bee from Transformers. I have dreams of dedicating one of the walls in my games room* to his transformation from a car into his autobot awesomeness. *in reference to my future, fabulous home.

10. I have this thing for coins.

Wanna tell me a little about yourself?
Anything that we have in common??

Can't wait for SATURDAAAYY!!

Business Lounge

Funny how outfits can say a whole lot about you. Today I had someone ask if I was a lawyer. Last week I had someone ask what grade I was in. Clearly how you dress and carry yourself counts loads!

Dress: second hand market
Shoes: thrift store
Belt: came with a skirt
