Tsavo Day 2: Mzima Springs

Guys,

I don’t even know anymore. I’m not sure what happened but Binti is being a little difficult – can’t seem to get my pictures off her and onto my computer which poses quite a problem for someone who relies heavily on picture material. How can I blog with no pictures? Hooowwww?? I actually think the problem is more with my lappy than Binti but I'll try fix it soon so that I can get into my regular blogging rhythm.

Anyway, I just remembered that I had some pictures that I was meant to upload from my second day at Kilaguni. Talk about a long overdue blog post. Better late than never baby.

On our second day there we decided to go down to Mzima Springs - last time we were there was aaaages ago so it was a nice walk down memory lane.
Pun intended.

One little fishy took a dump.

 Suckers!
I kid I kid, it was just for camera people.

We had to go with a ranger round the Mzima Springs walk cos apparently they've sighted a few leopards in the past!!

The remains of some of the hippos that used to be at Mzima Springs.
Apparently there was a major drought in the area a few years back which really hit them hard and more than 40 hippos died. Really sad cos one of the things I remember most from my last visit to Mzima Springs were the hippos and now we couldn't even spot one.

 Nail file anyone?
The ranger (who also acted as our guide) picked up this dry leaf which turned out to be very coarse on one side and told us how traditionally, this is what the women used to file their nails! Can't remember which commmunity though but the men would also use these leaves to sharpen their weapons.

This little guy wasn't one bit shy. He actually came pretty close and freaked me out cos it didn't seem like it was going to stop. Cute though.

Mission: Get-Binti-To-Corporate has commenced.
Full force.
